Dartmouth's 1963 Alumni Fund is over its dollar objective.
When the Fund Office closed on Saturday, June 29, estimated total receipts had reached $1,277,000 — $27,000 over the goal of $1,250,000. This total was made up of $1,117,000 in cash gifts from 19,286 alumni, parents, and friends, plus estimated income of $160,000 from Class Memorial Funds and other endowed funds.
As this was written (on July 1) the Fund Office was counting over 1,000 additional gifts that had arrived over the weekend, and other gifts postmarked on or before June 30 were expected. Although 1963's final, official figure will not be known until mid-July, the Fund total is now estimated in excess of $1,300,000 and possibly $1,350,000. Last year's campaign produced $1,215,000. To go along with its new dollar mark the 1963 campaign may record a new contributor high.
Chairman Charles F. Moore Jr. '25 called the results extraordinary and said: "This is certainly a wonderful achievement on the part of all Dartmouth men and a striking testimony to the dedicated efforts by our 3,300 class agents and class officers and to the generosity and loyalty of many thousands of our alumni. There is no doubt that the Dartmouth Alumni Fund is the best in the country, and we will strive to keep it that way, particularly next year when we conduct our 50th Anniversary Campaign."
