We did it - the biggest Tenth Reunion in the history of Dartmouth! The official count Saturday noon was 238 men and 201 women. Actually, 244 men returned. (Had the polls stayed open until dinner, this would have been an all-time Dartmouth record for any reunion.)

And, speaking of records, Charlie Tanzi informs us that we drank more beer than any reunioning class ever — 39 half-kegs.

A complete list of all present will be published in "53 Out" along with all the details. Briefly, though, this was the schedule: Friday - cocktail party, dinner at the new Field House, music and dancing in the tent; Saturday — breakfast, class meeting, picnic at the Canoe Club, cocktail party, banquet in Thayer, more music and dancing in the tent; Sunday - memorial service in Bema, breakfast.

Bill Beutel did a fine job emceeing the banquet. Charlie Fleet, John Corcoran, and Ted Spiegel received engraved cigarette boxes in appreciation of their past work as Class Agents. Ed Condit, our new man on the spot, reported glowing results on our Alumni Fund efforts this year. Howie Cleary introduced our new Class Chairman, FredWhittemore. Dave Halloran is the new treasurer.

Your new Executive Committee will be Jim Cobb, Howie Clery, Dick Calkins, Ed Condit, Dave Halloran, Charlie Fleet, Tom Bloomer, Jack Crisp, Bob Callendar, Dave Florence, Fred Whittemore, Dick Blum, Put Blodgett, John Van Huyck, Dick Loewenthal, Ted Spiegel, John Corcoran, Scrib Fauver, Byron Menides, Don Bigham, Fred Stephens, Bill Johnson, Sherm Horton, Charlie Buchanan, and Butch Edgar.

Again, many thanks to Dick Blum, his committee of Don Bigham, Jim Courtney, Paul Paganucci, Bob Callendar, Gus Allen! Sherm Horton, Billy Johnson, Dick Hall,' Don Smith, and over seventy others who helped make this great week-end possible.

Dartmouth and Hanover have changed here and there. Old landmarks have been replaced by new modern buildings. But, have no fear, the old New England feeling still remains. It is the same Dartmouth that we have always remembered. Hopkins Center far exceeds its press notices. Today's undergraduates are lucky to have all of the arts consolidated and readily available. The Leverone Field House has eliminated the possibility of Dartmouth ever again being a step-child in spring sports.

One of the big thrills of reunion was to see Ed Boyle, who had special permission to take leave from his Jesuit studies to join us for a day. "Der" Spiegel will now be for real. He and Patti will be living in Frankfurt for six months teaching the West Germans to shop by mail Chicago style.

That's it for this season. Hope everyone has a great summer without too many worries about crab grass. Look forward to seeing you at a game this fall.

Halfway point of biggest tenth on record was 1953's luncheon at Canoe Club
