The passing of time for class secretaries is measured either by the culmination of the academic year featured by the annual meeting of class officers at Hanover in May or by the request for notes in this column at the beginning of another academic year after three months' respite. During this period, news items from Hanover (for which we are grateful) serve as the basis of that which is contained herein.
Pete Haffenreffer's son, R.F.H. III, is to be married this fall to Miss Lindsley Borsodi Dalglish of Providence, R.I., and Hyannis Port, Mass. Young Pete graduated from Choate School and attended Washington and Lee University. The future bride made her debut in 1960 and graduated this June from Sarah Lawrence College.
Ted Geisel continues to pile up royalties from his best-selling children's books, according to the July 18, 1964, issue of Business Week, which contained a two-page spread on Dr. Seuss' success.
Ken Montgomery has been elected a trustee of Lake Forest College. A partner in the Chicago law firm of Wilson and McIlvaine, Ken is a member of the Chicago and American Bar Associations and was formerly president of the Legal Club of Chicago. He has also served as president of the Harvard Law School Association of Chicago and the Winnetka Board of Education. A trustee of Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital, he was formerly vice-chairman of the budget committee of the Community Fund and a former member of the board of the Welfare Council of Metropolitan Chicago. In addition, he is a member of the Visiting Committee of the University of Chicago Law School and the University of Chicago's Citizens' Board as well as the Associates' Board of Northwestern University.
Charlie Moore has been elected to the nominating committee of the Alumni Council. Charlie incidentally deserves accolades for his outstanding performance as chairman of the Alumni Fund the past two years. Howard Megee is another member of the class who has been given recognition by his election to serve as a vice president of the General Association of Alumni. Bill has been on the financial staff of General Motors since receiving his MCS from Tuck School in 1926 and holds the title of general assistant comptroller.
Carl Bridenbaugh, professor at Brown and author of "Cities in the Wilderness" and "Cities in Revolt," recently had published by University Press a new book entitled "Mitre and Sceptre: Transatlantic Faiths, Ideas, Personalities and Politics, 1689-1775." Professor Alden "Hap" Hefler, of the U.S. Naval Academy, was a visitor to Boston the past summer as skipper of the schooner, Freedom, in conjunction with the weekend show of sail by vessels of five nations.

Miriam Howe reports that Jim Howe IV '57 will be an English instructor at the University of Vermont this year, while writing the thesis for his doctorate, after having taught three years at the University of Alabama. She expressed the hope that Jim V will be Dartmouth '82.
Bill Boies, president of the Colonial Bank & Trust Co. since 1957, has been elected president of the Connecticut Bankers Association. Bud Neilson was a featured speaker during the 43rd Annual Massachusetts Safety Conference last spring. He discussed "Company Ofi-the-Job Safety Programs That Work."
Lest you forget, the annual meeting of the class executive committee will be held Friday evening, October 9, the day before the Princeton game. And another reminder. We're headed for our 40th Reunion. Better start making plans now to attend!
