St. Louis

The St. Louis Dartmouth Club has been active since the first of the year in making plans for the Glee Club concert, which is to be held on Monday, April 4th, and in interviewing applicants for admission. The Admissions Committee is headed by Bob (Sewell) Turner '33. who has done yeoman work assisted by various local alumni named Joe.

The plans for the Glee Club concert were outlined at a smoker held Feb. Ist at the home of President Harry S. Deckert '35. Except for the small detail of selling tickets, the plans for the big shindig are all shipshape. A committee has been working hard all the month of January lining up things and ironing out details. Howie Mullin '27 and Ben Gutman Jr. '37 have done most of the leg work (via Telephone) in contacting hotels and orchestras. The Glee Club concert will take place at the Sheraton Hotel on Monday, April 4, 1949 at 8:30 P.M., to be followed by a dance. In attendance at the smoker were Leigh Turner '04, Howie Mullin '27, Ernest M. (Jack) Merrill '30, Pete Grace '33, Bob Turner '33, Marty Kerwin '33, Hugh Logan '34, Bill Rench '34, Hall Colton '35, Harry Deckert '35, Ernie Curtis '36, Ben Gutman Jr. '37, Don Otis '37, Jimmy Jones '38, Russ Fette '39, Ted Hinson '41, Dave Biggs '42, Carl Holekamp '42, Joe Logan '42, and Len Sommer '47.

On January 11th we enjoyed a visit from Eddie Chamberlain '36, the Assistant Director of Athletics. There was an informal gathering for dinner at the Missouri Athletic Club with such alumni as could be reached on short notice. Those present were Ted Thompson '32, Tom Curtis '32, Pete Grace '33, Bob Turner '33, Marty Kerwin '33, Hugh Logan '34, Harry Deckert '35, Buster May '36, Don Otis '37, Charlie Edison '43, and Ray Wolfe '43. Since many of those present had been friends and teammates of Eddie in undergraduate days, needless to say, many good days were relived that evening.
