The participants in a long-range study of the Dartmouth College libraries have been appointed and have begun their operation under the chairmanship of Charles G. Bolte '41, executive vice president of Viking Press, New York. Richard W. Morin '24, Librarian of the College, is on leave to serve as executive secretary of this newest TPC-authorized study. The goal of the survey is to appraise the strengths and weaknesses of the present Dartmouth libraries and to recommend improvements in order to bring the libraries to a position of maximum responsiveness to the needs of the College and its educational programs.

In addition to Mr. Bolte and Mr. Morin, the members of the study council include Provost John W. Masland; Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences Leonard M. Reiser '44; Medical School Dean Gilbert H. Mudge; Thayer Dean Myron Tribus; Tuck Dean Karl A. Hill '38; Prof. Arthur M. Wilson, chairman of the Subcommittee on Library Resources; Prof. Robert Decker, chairman of the Faculty Committee on the Library; Prof. Carl Bridenbaugh '25 of Brown University; Prof. Sanborn Conner Brown '35 of M.1.T.; Prof. John V. Kelleher '39 of Harvard; Donald H. Miller Jr. '37, general manager of Scientific American; Kenneth F. Montgomery '25, lawyer; and James W. Stevens '50, Director of Planning and Project Administration at the College and Secretary of the Trustees Planning Committee.

The Subcommittee on Library Resources, in addition to Mr. Morin and Professor Wilson, includes Professors William W. Ballard '28, Wayne G. Broehl, James M. Cox, Alexander Kaczmarczyk, David M. Kelsey, Richard L. Pfister, and Graham B. Wallis.
