Prof. M. F. Longhurst followed up his remarkably successful Carnival show with another of his well-nigh-perfect Gilbert and Sullivan operas, presented on April 19 and 20. "Patience," this year's production, was if anything even more popular than last year's "Pirates of Penzance." This is the sixth successive year the Hanover Community Chorus has produced a Savoy opera, and each year Professor Longhurst receives more praise and thanks from the College and town for the skill, the enthusiasm, and the labor which has gone to make each performance such an artistic success. Sidney C. Hayward was general manager of the show and Fred H. Burleigh was assistant manager, in charge of staging.

Prof. James D. McCallum was cast in the leading role of the poet, Bunthorne, and Mrs. Joseph Folger played the part of Patience. K. B. Michael '29 had one of the principal paj-ts, as Grosvenor, the idyllic poet. Mrs. E. B. Watson, Mrs. Isabelle Frost, Mrs. H. R. Heneage, Mrs. W. B. Pressey, Donald Bartlett, James A. Hamilton and Robert C. Strong were cast in the rest of the principal roles of the production. Mrs. M. F. Longhurst had specially designed costumes made for the girls' chorus and she was assisted by a conlmittee in costuming the men's chorus and cast. The electrical effects were again under the direction of William H. McCarter. Churchill P. Lathrop was in charge of properties.

Although in past years the settings for the Gilbert and Sullivan productions have been partially constructed here, this year all of the scenic effects were built from designs made by Mrs. Churchill P. Lathrop, who has, until this year, been employed as a professional designer in New York City.
