MEDICAL GRANTS
OCTOBER 1964

The Dartmouth Medical School received two important grants in recent months, one from a foundation and the other from a former Trustee of the College. The former, a grant in the amount of $2,000,000 was awarded to the Medical School by the James Foundation of New York, Inc., as part of a grand total of some $96,000,000 given to 92 charitable, religious, and educational institutions. The gift from the James Foundation will be added to the funds raised by the Capital Gifts Campaign. The Medical School had received previous gifts from the James Foundation of $100,000 in 1960 and $75,000 in 1963.

The Albert Bradley Class of 1915 Scholarship Fund, a gift of Mr. Bradley who is the retired chairman of the board of the General Motors Corporation and a former Trustee of the College, has been established at the Medical School and will provide $5400 a year in scholarships during the next ten years. The scholarships will be available to students in both first and second years, with $2700 available for each class, and can be awarded to a single student or divided among not more than three students in the class. The $2700 represents total tuition, room, and board charges. This year Bradley Scholarships have been awarded to one first-year man and two in the second year.
