Club Secretary of the Year
NOVEMBER 1964

Richard Barnard '30, secretary of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Boston, was honored as the Club Secretary of the Year at the annual meeting in Hanover last month. The following citation was read at the dinner:

Your service as a club officer started in 1957 when you kept records for fellow alumni as Secretary of the Mystic Valley Dartmouth Club. By 1963 effective work made you an ideal candidate for the Secretary's job in the largest of all Dartmouth Clubs, the Boston Alumni Association.

With many details to consider as the Association worked its way into a new mailing service organization, and with planning for the 100th Anniversary Dinner last January, you found the new position called for tact, patience, enthusiasm, and thoroughness - all Barnard characteristics.

Your efforts nicely complemented those of Lester R. Godwin '30, your classmate, who served as President of the Boston Alumni Association. When 1200 Dartmouth men and their wives descended on the Statler Hotel last January 22 to celebrate a 100th anniversary and honor Dartmouth's Hopkins and Dickey, you could certainly take satisfaction in a job well done.

Knowing that you will continue to outdo yourself for the benefit of your constituents, and your College, and knowing what you have already accomplished, it is our contention that we have picked just the right man to be named 1964 Club Secretary of the Year.
