The way to start a Fall '27 Reunion weekend is going north on Route 5. This time, pulled up at a stop light beside Ruth and Ken Murray and led them to Kay and BillPrescott's lovely old New England home in Bernardston, Mass. Five minutes later, Mandy and Art Kelleher unfolded from a Corvair (neither one are Corvair size) and we had a pleasant opening gathering and luncheon with the Prescotts. Unfortunately due to illness in their family they had to return to Boston that night. We, on to Hanover.
Lake Morey was more than beautiful with its display of fall foliage across the sparkling water. The real wise '27ers are those that go to Hanover and spend a whole week. A number, such as the Wormsers, the O'Connells and others, had reserved some vacation time for' this wonderful time of year and had been enjoying the countryside to the fullest. Bill Abbott and his bride made a real trip East from San Francisco, meeting the Arnolds for golf in Vermont, on to Hanover for meeting and the other way stations before heading home. A bus drove the '27 contingent to the campus for Dartmouth night. Doane Arnold, your senior class secretary, being the self-starter he always has been, had sent a telegram on our behalf for Dartmouth night ceremonies, This was subsequently acknowledged by the College. Judging by the pile of railroad ties in the middle of the campus that produced a wonderful bonfire, railroad trackage in this part of the! country must be disappearing fast. Saturday a.m. some 30-odd gathered at Lake Morey Inn for a class meeting, the details of which you should find in the upcoming Speakeasy. Among the more - important actions taken were selectibn of October 9, the Penn game, for the 1965 Fall Reunion in Hanover, which is to be headquartered the Inn, the Motor Lodge, and Sunset Motel in Hanover. The appointment of Phil Fowler as Reunion Chairman succeeding Paul O'Connell who has set quite a standard for these annual gatherings. Don O'Hara, our genial New York Regional Chairman, has asked to be relieved due to business pressure and is being succeeded by DocGreener, who tells us to keep in mind the '27 New York Dinner in April, '65. CugDaley, New England Chairman, says there's another Boston Dinner in February with a '27 Wheelock Tavern for classmates before and after. Bruce McKennan not only reported on the Far West, but brought greetings from Chuck Brewster in Hawaii and reported a recent dinner in Portland, Ore., with Paul Woelfel. Jim Pickens unfortunately was not quite back on his feet after three months in the hospital with a bad back so couldn't be with us. The Class passed a resolution making Masuo Iwanami of Tokyo, Japan an adopted member of the Class. An ardent Dartmouth worker, he was more recently president of the Tokyo Dartmouth Club and a close friend of many '27ers, the year he spent at Hanover. The meeting closed after passing a resolution expressing the Class's appreciation for BobStevens' double-duty efforts this year as class chairman and '27's head agent leading us to the fine Alumni Fund record of this year.
Bob Funkhouser reminds us that through the courtesy of Bob Stevens the four years' copies of the daily Dartmouth are now bound and located in the '27 room in Dick's House. The next time you are there, thumb through it and see what you were doing and how you looked away back then. Art Lyman reports through Jack Sheldon that he decided to be wise and not attend the fall meeting this year giving his old ticker a little more rest. He also says that Edna andHowie Mullin visited them in Lake Summer and they collectively took in the world champion golf tournament. He also reports that Dud Noyes sends his best to the class. Jack also-says that Cliff Randall, while missing the Fall Reunion hopes to get into New York later in the. season. Hope he lets us Easterners know he's in town. Sam Martin sends in his regrets to Bob on missing the fall meeting. Extends his best wishes to the classmates.

Charlie Fleischer has just been made assistant National Sales Director for the Great A&P Tea Company. Peg and Hank Copeland represented the Hornell, N. Y., '27 contingent; said that Bill Hollands was sorry they couldn't make it 100% for Hornell but his wife was busy ushering in a new grandchild. Lovy Lovegrove is giving Fowler, the new Fall Reunion Chairman, a quick assist by lining up a group of rooms in the Sunset Motel for the Fall Reunion next year. Edna and Howie Mullin left Chicago on Thursday afternoon, were in Hanover on Friday afternoon, said he spent only 16 hours burning the rubber off his Cadillac. They alternate every year between the two places, one year bog trotting or whatever they do in Ireland, one year sailing. Sunday morning Ruth and Ken Murray decided they would spill their remaining tomato juice in a better place than the back seat of the car. By diluting it, it seemed to provide the Vitamin C a number of us needed badly. Warren Murray reports a busy existence on movie writing and producing, a more recent one took him to South America. He's living in Dorset, Vt., in between such treks. Marie and Chuck Baker on from Ohio spending the weekend with the Bob Funkhousers. Between those that we saw at Lake Morey Inn, in Section 1 of the stands, and at the '27 table in Leverone Field House, there was something like 50 classmates in town, one place or another. Al Welty says he has both of his boys in New York, fully expect to hear the Welty trio perform at this winter's New York '27 Dinner.
The St. Louis and San Francisco Railway Company - The Frisco - gave a luncheon at the Waldorf for Duke Coulter. Duke, vice-president of finance and regional manager of sales, is transferring to the West Coast. Yours truly, along with Sam Wormser, Don O'Hara, Bob Stevens, Bill St.Amant, Sykes Hardy in from Chicago, and Dinty Gardner, down from Boston, represented '27 at this fine send off for Duke. Incidentally met Duke's older twin brother (older by 10 minutes) and he is just as handsome as Duke.
