Roger Sherman left Southern Railway Company last year, but is continuing his computer career in Washington with Planning Research Corporation. The company is based in Los Angeles and has a Honolulu office which Roger has been forced to visit once. It is a consulting firm for government and business, doing analysis, programming and design for its customers' data processing systems. Roger specializes in military planning work, helping the generals decide what their next move should be and what their personnel and equipment requirements are. He, Alice and daughter Kyra moved in February from Arlington, Va., to Cheverly, Md.
"The Twin Citian," a Minneapolis maga- zine, reported on the multiple activities of Dave Strieker as an example of new types of careers. Dave is administrative assistant to the headmaster of his other alma mater, Blake School, is campaign coordinator of the school's capital gifts campaign, is on a four-man faculty admissions committee and counsels students and their parents on college admissions. The magazine said "one senior reported that Mr. Strieker paid a fivehour visit to his home discussing colleges." Dave's wife, Ruth Ann, teaches swimming in the school's new pool to mothers and other faculty wives.
Phil Camp was installed in December as president of the Underwriters Association of Norwich, Inc., in Norwich, Conn. He's in the insurance agency of Walter T. Camp & Sons, and was previously the Underwriters Association's vice president and secretary and also chairman of several committees. Busy Phil is also secretary of the Norwich Rotary Club, clerk of Park Congregational Church, executive board member of the Eastern Connecticut Council of the Boy Scouts of America, a corporator of the Chelsea Savings Bank and also of the W. W. Backus Hospital.
Paul Zimmerman shifted from private law practice in Washington to the National Aircraft Noise Abatement Council as its general counsel. The organization is composed of five trade associations representing airlines, pilots, aircraft and engine manufacturers, and airport operators. The Council coordinates noise control work being done by private industry and the Federal Aviation Agency through its contracts with private acoustical firms. Paul's specialty is land planning and zoning. He advises local officials on how to keep housing away from the airport, which he says is difficult "because airport land is so valuable."
Moe Kaufman married Judy Ervin of Albuquerque on December 22 in Nashua, N. H. She's a graduate of the University of New Mexico and was a teacher at Albuquerque High School. Moe has a master's degree in mining geology and works in Tucson for Stebbins Mineral Surveys, Inc. RickHollyer became engaged to Sarah Wurts of Binghamton, N. Y., a graduate of Bradford Junior College. Rick went to Columbia Law School and is with the New York firm of Reynolds, Richards, Ely & LaVenture.
Among industrialists in suburban Boston, George (Sonny) Peters is a general supervisor at Polaroid Corp. and Chet Gale oversees Brand Rex Corporation's sales of wire and cable to computer manufacturers and also the company's marketing of Teflon, a high-temperature insulating material. Chet has a couple of accounts in California and one in Florida; he's managed one vital business trip to the Golden State, but says that in good conscience he simply cannot justify a Florida junket for that one lone customer.
Bob Ankerson is a copywriter for Time, Inc., in New York City. Tom Lord practices law in San Diego. Frank and Joan Tepper had their second son, Scott Colvin, on January 7. Frank is with the law firm of Andrews & Smathers in Orlando. The Teppers offer at least a temporary resting place to any classmates "seeking refuge from the cold north country."
Defending the nation: Ted Voorhees is an Army captain in Abbeville, S. C., GeorgeFenzl is a Navy lieutenant in Hatboro, Pa., and John Mansfield is a flying Navy lieutenant based in Norfolk.
Paul Mannes retired as Washington, D. C., enrollment chief and is now the local alumni club's historian. This distinction entitles him to report club news to the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. He says he's waiting for just the right news to break before he essays this task. Paul is with the law firm of Bernstein, Kleinfeld and Alper, and occasionally routes some legal business to Ron Schreiber, a partner in a Baltimore firm. Will Stratton is on the executive committee of the Washington alumni club.
