CALLIHAN BEQUEST
APRIL 1964

Dartmouth has received $30,263 from the estate of Mrs. Tresller W. Callihan of Newton Center, Mass., to establish the William Harnest Callihan 1934 Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Mr. and Mrs. Callihan have been supporting a memorial scholarship on an annual basis since their son's death. The bequest of Mrs. Callihan now establishes a permanent endowed fund. Preference when possible will be given to students of Newton High School and Phillips Exeter Academy.

William Harnest Callihan died at his home in Greensboro, N.C., June 22, 1956. He was a graduate of Newton High School and Phillips Exeter Academy. At Dartmouth he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, the College Band, and Le Cercle Francais. Following graduation from Dartmouth he had been a banker; in the U. S. Army, being discharged with the rank of captain; and an insurance executive in Greensboro. He was married to the former Margaret Perkins of Greensboro. John T. Callihan '42 is his brother.
