THE COLLEGE
APRIL 1964

APRIL 1 will not be a day for fooling in the Alumni Fund Office. It L marks the official start of the Fund's golden anniversary campaign, which has a goal of $1,500,000 to achieve between now and June 30. Fortunately, pre-campaign gifts to the 1964 Fund add up to $500,000, by far the best running start the Fund has ever had, but this early gain can be used because the current campaign is seeking to outdo last year's record dollar total by about $125,000.

Several things about the Golden Anniversary Alumni Fund are appropriately on the grand scale, but nothing is more impressive than the organization of some 4,000 alumni from coast to coast, and even overseas, who are working as class agents this year. If the 1964 Fund succeeds — and there is no expectation of failure - the credit will go,primarily to this large and dedicated corps of Fund workers.

With President Dickey in Japan (see below), perhaps he will release a pigeon or two on April 1 to send the 1964 Fund winging on its way. It is an old Japanese custom to release pigeons from a kusudarna to ensure good fortune when there is an important inauguration.
