MARCH came in like a lamb this year, but at least two groups of Dartmouth athletes rampaged through those early March days like lions (and not Columbia Lions) to gobble up two championships and come very close to gaining a national crown in the competition that was held "somewhere around Hanover, N.H."
And while all this was going on, the spring sports squads have been batting, throwing, and running, running, running in the warm coziness of Dartmouth's Nathaniel Leverone Field House, preparing to test talents and training against Southern rivals in the between-terms travels.
But before we start gazing into the mists of what-may-happen in April and May we should close a few record books, some that had very happy endings and some very, very sad. The champions, of course, were the Big Green skaters, who polished off Cornell in a 3-2 overtime thriller for the Ivy League laurels, and the skiers, who captured the Eastern crown for the third year in a row and came within a frosty whisker of wresting the national crown from perennial winner Denver.
