The presentation, on behalf of the Dartmouth Alumni Council, was made by J. William Embree '21 (l), former Council president, who read this citation:
Ever since you skated on the front line for the Dartmouth hockey team as an aggressive Big Green athlete determined to win every game, you have served this College with the same spirit. In your home city you have been especially active in all kinds of work for the benefit of boys - president of the Minneapolis Boy Scout Council, a director of the Boy Scout Foundation, recipient of the high Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America. In the Second World War you served as Lieutenant Commander in the U. S. Navy.
In Dartmouth activities you have through the years played a large part in a variety of alumni affairs. For two different terms you have been a member of the Dartmouth Alumni Council, also an alumni member of the Athletic Council. You served on the Trustees Planning Committee on Admission and Financial Aid and have been president of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of the Northwest, centered in St. Paul and Minneapolis. For your alumni club, you have founded and led the project to raise $100,000 for regional scholarships. Your work is unceasing and successful in locating and interesting outstanding schoolboys in going to Dartmouth. Among these young men from the Twin Cities was a graduate last year, your son, Charles Faegre '63.
