Do you remember how the WheelerBrothers used to acknowledge birthday presents through the 1911 class news column? Well, the Burleighs are about to borrow that technique. First, may we say thank you to the many classmates who not only sent us handsome Christmas greetings, but also added their own sentiments or good wishes for a Happy 55th, etc. The other item is to explain why you will receive this year's holiday greetings next year. Plans were all set to reach Florida in time to send cards and notes before Christmas. Instead Bee went into the hospital with a sprained knee so that by the time she could travel time had gone by and our chores were not done. So now our message will be "See you in June."

The line is already forming outside South Fayerweather Hall which will be 1911 head-quarters for our 55th Reunion. At the present time it consists of 36 men, mostly with wives, and five widows. A number of postcards have not been returned but from previous reunion records another fifteen can surely be counted among those who will appear. There are still a few who are in doubt but they will mostly be found among the "noes." The reasons principally given for not attending are the two to be expected:

"Poor health" and "too far to travel." There are bound to be some disappointments within the next four months, but as of this moment we can anticipate a continuance of 1911 's record-breaking reunions. In answer to the question about Whitefield, eighteen replied "Yes" besides the following widows; Marion Agry, Lillian Cooper, Ruth Mathes, Helen Russell, and Katherine Sterling.

Inez Adams writes "Am trying to make arrangements but I can't be sure at this time." Janet (Gray) (Mrs. Arthur) has moved to Walnut Creek, Calif., Apt. 4, 230 Pineknoll Drive 94529. Ruth Backus, Miriam Morris, and Marjorie Swain will be in different parts of Europe during the summer. It is gratifying that only two wives among those who have been kept on the active mailing list have asked to have their names removed.

From Helen Jenkins comes this message: "I am just a little too far away. You all meant so much to Chester I surely enjoyed my Dartmouth experiences."

It was a joy to hear directly from ArtPease in Seattle. He said: "Sure would like to see the bunch and the place - health won't permit such a trip though. My best to all."

The northerners have either arrived or are on their way to Florida. The ClydeLockes are at Altamonte Springs, the LesGibsons are docked in the "Gibby" at Fort Lauderdale. The Griswolds are going to winter in Saco, Me., but their neighbors Ken and Dorothy Knapp have been in residence for several weeks, the Mayos and JackSteeves are due in March and April. A newcomer to the 1911 aggregation is Deac.Trask who has become a fellow-townsman of Heine Chase. His address has just gone through as Apt. 302 A, River House, 721 South Beach St., Daytona Beach, Fla. 32014. Ed and Frances Keeler will spend February at the Hillsboro Shores Apts. in Pompano, Fla., and March in the Chuca Lodge at Islamorada in the Florida Keys.

Several get-together parties of Dartmouth alumni were scattered through the holiday period, where twenty to thirty found plenty to talk about, including football and the honors the boys and coaches had won.

Ray and Ramah Nead spent their golden wedding anniversary in Waretown, N. J., where their young folk really rolled out the red carpet for them.

Troy Parker sends this word: "I plan to attend the coming reunion, God willing, and will bring my daughter Ellen. She promises to keep me out of trouble. We hope to see some of that lovely New England, which I really never have had opportunity to look over. Janet and I are at Redlands, Calif., where we plan to spend the next four months. The Hills got a bit too cold for us. The address is 850 West State Street."

Eben Holden has a similar thought. He adds to his Christmas card; "Getting a bit chilly here. Hope we make Florida next month."

Notification has been received that Margaret Sisson, Lew's widow, died at her daughter's home in Middletown, Ohio, on Nov. 9, 1965.

Brad Patten and Barbara are working to arrange a trip to the South West, U.S.A. and possibly Mexico for this year's expedition. However Whitefield and the 55th are definitely under consideration.

Florence Stebbins sending greetings for herself and Charlie says that he has made a good recovery from his serious heart attack and is in active circulation but in low gear.

The latest convert to the Whitefield party, True Dudley, wrote "I was glad I could be there with you. I will certainly be at Hanover in June, God willing."

There is interesting news from Helen Harris, written in ten degree weather, as follows: "We've had a very busy winter. Sandra has her own horse and we followed the Horse Show Circuit in spring and summer. I did take time to go to England and Scotland for a month this fall. I was fascinated with London. We have been looking for prep schools all fall. Sandra finished 8th grade in June. She wants skiing, riding, and country living. This narrows our choice considerably. We even flew to Colorado one weekend to see Colorado Rocky Mt. School. With all our fall activities we never got to a Dartmouth game, but we have kept track through the papers. I enjoy the ALUMNI MAGAZINE."

Art and Rebecca Shepherd are spending the first part of the winter at 212 Main St., Winchester, Mass., but are toying with the idea of going to lacksonville later.

With thanks to Polly Clark, we have news of Pat Partridge's daughter, Judy. She is married to Spencer Baird and her greetings are from Oregon. Here is her story. "We moved here in August. Both of us are working at Oregon State University and enjoying it thoroughly. Spence is in the Science Research Institute and I am in the Dept. of Microbiology. The country is big and beautiful. The Coast Range on our back doorstep is topped with towering Douglas firs and across the valley are the snow-capped Cascades where we hope to go skiing soon, but we are still playing golf and tennis and wandering around in sweaters. Spence's son. Mike, has applied for admittance to Dartmouth, so we have our fingers crossed. He's living with us this year and going to Corvallis High School which is quite a change from Choate. I keep up with you through the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE."

Fred Long was back in Denver for the month of October visiting old friends and having a whale of a time. He was going to San Francisco for the holidays. He is still an ardent football fan and was delighted with our elegant football season.
