Win Hobbs and Oscar Cohn '34 both sent me clippings from the Bloomington, Ill., paper reporting the death of our classmate, Ted Almy. His obituary appears in this or a subsequent issue and once more we must say "goodbye" to a respected friend.

An apology - I do know how to spell Henry Weitz's name.

And more about those lost cities of Wes's. If he will get hold of any good atlas or road map of Pennsylvania and locate Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, then follow down proposed 181 past Hazleton, just before coming to Mahonoy City there is Barnesville, the home of one Thomas B. Noonan, big as life. Tom is also concerned about Bob James' home town of Glen Mills, Pa., and suggests that if Bob hasn't educated Wes in its whereabouts then he should "light a candle and search diligently in and around Delaware County, Pennsylvania!." Tom, your map has already been sent to Wes and thanks for your invitation to visit the next time we are in Barnesville.

Ginney and I just returned from a three week trip to New Jersey to see our fourth grandchild and then on to Boca Raton, Fla., to visit with my folks. On our way we made visits to several friends. Had the great pleasure of stopping in to see Burl Naramore in his office in Davidson, N. C., where he moved his Bridgeport Fabrics office and plant several years ago. Had to wait until he returned from a breakfast meeting (at 7:30 A.M.!!) in Charlotte some 20 miles away. This was a Board meeting of the Family and Children's Society. There's a public spirited citizen. We spent over an hour with Burl going through his plant and were only sorry that it couldn't have been longer and that we did not get to meet the rest of his family.

Fred Awalt's new address is Auburn, Me. And this once again indicated some sort of a major change. Fred's last address as you know was Libya where he had been for a number of years. Please drop me a line, Fred, and bring me up-to-date on what you are doing now.

Ted Monahan was named controller of Rohm and Haas Company, chemical manu facturers in Philadelphia, in February. Ted has been with Rohm and Haas since 1935 after his graduation from Harvard Business School. He had been assistant controller since 1963 and has directed the company's plant accounting control department which is responsible for accounting systems and procedures, internal auditing, and special financial analyses. Congratulations, Ted.

Invitations to attend the class executive committee meeting next fall brought letters from Stu Durkee and John Faegre. Stu, as you know, took early retirement from Superior Oil preferring to remain in California rather than move with the company to Texas. He has been very busy as a director and treasurer of the Laguna Festival of Arts. The Festival has an outdoor amphitheater and produces a pageant playing to about 91,000 people during the summer. They also have facilities where 200 local artists display and sell their creations. Profits from the operations support other cultural activities and provide scholarships. John ad- vises that he may be on hand in the fall but that nothing will stand in the way of his being on hand when our 35th rolls around in 1968. John reports two grandsons and that daughter, Mary, is a freshman at Wells (her mother's alma mater) and was the guest of John Meek Jr. for Carnival where she had "a perfectly wonderful time."

A few thumbnail sketches of classmates and their families. First, Dr. John Davidson practicing urologist in Springfield, Ohio. John married later than most members of the class but — he and Mary became husband and wife in 1946 and there aren't many '33s who, even though they started earlier, have outdone them in size of family. They now have three sons and three daughters, the oldest son, John 11, now in his first year at the Air Force Academy (even though he had been accepted at Dartmouth) and the youngest son, Thomas born in July 1964. John is a diplomate American Board of Urologists and a Fellow of American College of Surgeons. He is a past president of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Springfield Medical Society.

And Bill Harris is concerned about a young family! His daughter Shelly Anne (daughter by his first wife) is almost 20 and his daughters Marianne and Patricia Lee 11 and 10 respectively. Bill and Maxine were married in 1954. Bill graduated from Ohio State College of Medicine and practices general surgery.

And finally notes on the Snead brothers about whom we have heard very little since graduation. First Walter - he and Elizabeth live in Indianapolis with their two children Blair in the class of '68 at Indiana University and Sarah who is at Gulf Park Junior College. Walter is president of C. L. Dietz & Co., food brokers. He is on the board of directors of the Indianapolis Association of Manufacturers Representatives and is senior warden and vestryman of the Church of the Nativity (Episcopal). Brother Thornton and his wife, lulia, live in Evanston, Ill. Bud is vice president of Booz, Allen & Hamilton and located in their Chicago office (say hello to Jim Taylor for me the next time you see him, Bud). Their three daughters had up to last fall presented them with six grandchildren. Daughter Carol is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Susan of the University of Colorado and Mary of Michigan State. Bud is co-chairman of the business division of the Chicago Heart Association vestryman at St. Matthews Church and also warden. It's always great to hear from fellows whom we haven't been able to mention in this column for many years.

The Alumni Fund for 1966 is drawing to a close. Have you made your contribution and is it in line with your ability to give?
