Wood Foster '33 has recently been made a partner of the legal firm of Oppenheimer, Hodgson, Brown, Baer and Wolff. We were glad to see Dr. George Sayre '34, of the Mayo Clinic, in Minneapolis the other day. He is handling admissions and other Dartmouth affairs in Rochester and doing a good job of it.
When Dartmouth came out to the Corn Bowl basketball tournament in Des Moines on Dec. 29-30, there was a good deal of discussion in the newspapers about the meeting of teams coached by Ozzie Cowles and Elmer Lampe. There was likewise a good story on Joe Vanciscin '44, Ozzie's assistant at Minnesota. The only discouraging note in the whole picture was the score at the end of the game, which found Dartmouth trailing the Gophers by 64-52.
WISPS FROM CHRISTMAS SMOKER:
Jake Wetherby '19 could have gone on all night—his wife (he said) was in California. About iso people turned out—gave the grill room at Town and Country Club a good workout, to say nothing of the bartenders. Our teller was so efficient he collected entrance fees from a couple T & C members who had never heard of Dartmouth! Two movies were shown "Winter Interlude," a collection of color shots of 1948 Carnival; and the Princeton game, with the added attraction of Bob McCraney as narrator. Chairman Morrow Peyton '38 had everybody tagged-and plainly!
We recently have talked to several families who have procrastinated in the matter of making college applications for their sons. Mavbe each of us could help situations of this kind by taking a more active interest in telling boys of our acquaintance about Dartmouth. If you want any details regarding admissions just call one of the following: John Kelley '41, Minneapolis; Duke Dunning '11 or Wood Foster '33, St. Paul; Dr. George Sayre '34, Rochester; R. A. Dunning '17, Duluth; or Clark Bassett '21, Fargo.
