THREE other administrative promotions announced last month involve James W. Stevens '50, who will succeed Robert D. Funkhouser '27 as Comptroller of the College on October 1; Addison L. Winship II '42, who becomes Director of Development on July 1; and Clifford L. Jordan Jr. '45, who becomes Associate Director of Development on July 1. Mr. Funkhouser, a member of the College's financial staff since 1937 and Comptroller since 1950, has asked to be relieved of his duties for reasons of health. He will continue to serve the College as special consultant to the treasurer and comptroller.

Mr. Stevens is currently Director of Planning and Project Administration, and after becoming Comptroller he will continue to be responsible for long-range budget planning. He assumed his present post in 1963 after being secretary of the Inland Steel-Ryerson Foundation. Holder of an M.B.A. degree from New York University, he had been with Standard Brands Corporation and with the Inland Steel Company of Chicago as assistant to the treasurer. Mr. Stevens, who served as president of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Chicago in 1962-63, is currently executive secretary of the Trustees Planning Committee.

Mr. Winship, who succeeds George H. Col ton '35 as Director of Development, has been with that office since 1959 as Special Assistant to the President in charge of relations with corporations. After World War II service as a naval officer, he was with the National Dairy Products Corporation for 14 years. During that period he was division sales manager for the General Ice Cream Corporation of Cambridge, Mass., 1954-57, and western New York district sales manager of the Sealtest Foods Division, National Dairy Products, 1957-59.

Mr. Winship is former Head Class Agent for 1942 and in that role won the John R. Mason Trophy as top agent among the youngest ten classes in the 1951 campaign. He was a member of the Dartmouth Alumni Council, 1951-54, and also served on the executive committee of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Boston.

Mr. Jordan in the post of Associate Director of Development will continue his present responsibilities as Executive Secretary of the Dartmouth Alumni Fund. He returned to Dartmouth in 1950 as director of sports information and assistant director of the News Service. He moved to the Office of Development in 1955 and two years later became executive secretary of the Alumni Fund, which has set a series of dollar records under his executive direction. Mr. Jordan is a contributing editor of the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE and is the author of this month's article about Vice President Orton H. Hicks '21, whose June 30 retirement has occasioned the new series of development office promotions.
