George A. Colligan, Professor of Engineering Sciences, has been named Associate Dean of the Thayer School of Engineering. Under Dean Myron Tribus, he will be responsible for student affairs, educational activities, and certain Thayer School publications. He also will be in charge of conferences, institutes, workshops, and special seminars.

Professor Colligan joined the Thayer School faculty in 1962 after a period as research metallurgist for General Electric and the United Aircraft Corporation. He will continue to teach courses in metallurgy, X-ray diffraction, and physical ceramics, and work with student researchers at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
