ON THE WEEKEND of September 29-30, a few days before President Dickey made public announcement of Dartmouth's $5l-million Third Century Fund campaign, the alumni leaders of the campaign met in Hanover with College officers for a broad review of the objectives, organization, and timetable of this greatest fund-raising effort in the College's history. Their enthusiasm and sights were raised at that time by the news that a Trustees Nucleus Fund of at least $5.1 million had already been pledged and that other large gifts were in the offing.
