The toughest attack on Adam Clayton Powell by one of his colleagues in the House came from that forthright representative from Minnesota, Clark MacGregor. Clark was named by Speaker McCormack to unwanted membership on the investigating committee. Apparently he took the appointment seriously and after having done his homework, lost no time in blasting the Harlem Democrat. It's a reasonably good bet that the MacGregors won't be vacationing in Bimini this year.
Dick Ranger has climbed another rung in the Ford organization. As Carol puts it, he's been "transferred from the womb of the Ford Division to FoMoCo's newest baby, Autolite Ford." Dick is now district manager for Autolite in Richmond responsible for a wide territory covering Virginia, the Eastern Carolinas, Washington, and Baltimore. Not much of a help as far as skiing goes but still in the heart of the golf country. Carol is sure that with a middle name like "Lee" Dick is going to make it big in Virginia.
Bill McElnea's brokerage outfit Van Alstyne, Noel and Company, have posh new offices at 4 Albany Street in the heart of the financial district. Fritz Hier is due back from Vietnam the end of March which should prove to be a pleasant change. Dave Wrisley's son, Dave Jr., is in his senior year at Dartmouth, will be married this spring and set up housekeeping in Old Sachem Village just like his mom and dad did. Young Dave now on an ROTC scholarship plans to continue his studies at Tuck. Number two son, Jim, is a freshman at Colgate.
Rickey Lewis was recently named corporate manager of Oxford Paper Company's coated specialties department. In his capacity Rick is responsible for both sales and manufacture of their coated specialty products. He will also continue in his present capacity as manager of national account sales. It's always fun to blame manufacturing when sales slip - ie their costs are too high, their deliveries are terrible, there are too many errors, etc. Now all Rick can do is look in the mirror at his tormentor. Sherm Davis has been transferred to Dallas, Texas, as sales supervisor for the 3M Company. He and Rock Davidson should generate a little action down there. Bob Rader has moved to a new home in Westport, Conn.
Pete Schaub is fulfilling a long suppressed desire to be a college "prof" by teaching a course in "Personal Investment Planning" at Rutgers' extension division. West Shell has been doing the same sort of work in the real estate field in Cincinnati and has become a veritable Mr. Chips.
We've got another bank president! Harry Carey was elected president of the Bristol County Trust Company in Taunton. Harry had previously been assistant vice president of the National Shawmut Bank in Boston. An Army major in WW II Harry is still active in the Reserve Officers Association and is an incorporator of Family Service Association of Massachusetts.
