The Rockefeller Foundation has made a grant of $130,000 to continue and expand the public-school portion of the College's ABC Program for disadvantaged youth. The three-year grant will enable the prototype program begun last year in Hanover High School for eight students to be extended to other communities.

The grant will support Thomas Mikula, the newly named full-time director of Dartmouth ABC Programs for three years, and finance ten new ABC students in a second public school.

Mr. Mikula was for twelve years a member of the mathematics faculty at Phillips Academy, Andover, and for three summers Mathematics Coordinator of Dartmouth's ABC Program. At present he is Director of the Hanover ABC Program. His responsibilities include teaching mathematics at Hanover High School and living, with his family, in the ABC residence.

The Rockefeller Foundation has supported ABC from its inception. The new grant will enable the Dartmouth ABC office to help other communities organize their internal efforts and to locate the support they will need to begin and tain ABC public school programs.
