On March 3 the Dartmouth Club of Essex and Morris hosted a statewide alumni dinner at which President and Mrs. John Sloan Dickey '29 were our honored guests. The meeting was superbly arranged by Peter Bixby '51 and Donald Voss '58 and attracted 168 alumni and wives. President Dickey, as always, broadened our perspective of Dartmouth College and its function in the scope of the intellectual and alumni community. Our thanks to the Dickeys for their visit with us.

It was also our honor to have an Alumni Council presentation of a Distinguished Alumni Award to Dr. Carlos H. Baker '32. Dr. Baker over the years has made significant contributions as an educator to the stream of intellectual thought, and our only regret lies in his being at that other university in Princeton, N. J.! We wish Dr. Baker continued success and extend our congratulations.

The sole business of our meeting was the annual election of club officers which, as usual, was a hotly contested race between the Whigs and the Federalists, but in the end Bill Carter's '39 slate of nominees squeezed in. Elected were: President, PeterBixby '51; Vice President, Thomas Kelsey'54; Vice President, William Hutchison '53; Treasurer, Donald Voss '58; Secretary, John Trimble '58.

The opposition candidates, together with their vocal supporters, have since been exiled to Bergen County, where they need new blood anyway.

The concluding event of this year will be the annual picnic, to be on June 3 and again at the good graces of Dot and Bill Blanchard '30. We pray for good weather for a change and look forward to the resulting fine turnout.
