THE 63rd annual Alumni Fund Campaign, which ended June 30, has reached a new milestone in Fund history by going over its first two million dollar goal. Alumni Fund totals through July 1 show a total of $2,027,278. This includes an estimate of $215,000 income from Class Memorial Funds and endowment funds which will be officially credited in late July. This July 1 total is approximately $160,000 ahead of the same date last year; gifts yet to be tallied should bring the final total over $2,050,000.
The current contributor total shows 21,800 gifts from alumni, parents, and friends, approximately the same as last year with alumni participation expected to be about 65%.
The Dartmouth Parents Fund, included in these totals, also represented a new record as it went over its $70,000 goal with 1476 parents contributing $75,080 through July 1.
A number of classes appear to be headed for new records with the 25th year class of 1942 out in front with an all-time high of over $90,000. Four other classes — 1925, 1926, 1927, and 1941 — will exceed the $60,000 level while four other classes — 1929, 1930, 1931, and 1935 will have totals in excess of $50,000. Several classes, notably 1933, 1937, and 1946, have made outstanding gains in their dollar totals through special efforts during the 1967 Campaign.
Alumni Fund Chairman Ralph Lazarus '35 termed the preliminary results as "most gratifying," going on to praise the work done this spring "by the finest and largest (over 4,000 agents) volunteer team ever assembled for an annual Fund. We had hoped," added Chairman Lazarus, "to achieve a new record in contributors and alumni participation, but this challenge must await next year's campaign."
A final, detailed report on 1967 results will be sent to all Campaign workers in early August and a complete report will appear in a fall issue of the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE.
