It is getting pretty close to the deadline for the October MAGAZINE and maybe better to give you what I have now and hope for more news in November. I do not want to start the magazine year by being late.
Our good friend Gink Ford wrote of his appreciation of the 65th Reunion. He is already hoping to be at our 70th. A newspaper clipping was forwarded me of Stanwood Cobb and his lecture and teaching plans for the fall.
Miss Nancy Elliott, In Memoriam Editor, forwarded a copy of a letter from Mrs. Hazel Hunkins Hallinan, Garden Flat, 45 BeBelsize Park Gardens, London, N.W. 3, England. She writes of her husband, our Classmate Charles T. Hallinan who she says "is now approaching his 88th birthday and has not got an ailment of any kind. His general health is phenomenal but he is very forget-ful." It was good news to hear from him and that he appreciates the communications that come to him from Dartmouth.
In the July MAGAZINE I mentioned that the class executive committee had been increased by two new members. The present set up is Leigh Kimball, Lewis Haney, Horace Kidger, and your president Ag Smith. Recently and after consultation with the office of the College Secretary, Lewis Haney has been appointed to and accepted the class offices of Class Agent and Bequest Chairman. Our class is fortunate and the writer relieved and delighted in this appointment.
Only recently another article by Lewis appeared on the editorial page of "The Wall Street Journal." Space limitations in the MAGAZINE do not permit reprint in these notes.
It has been a busy summer. There was the reunion odds and ends to properly close up and thank-yous to those who did so much to make it so pleasureable for those of us who were able to be there. The wind up of the Alumni Fund and News Letter in August, and always in the back of the mind what to do for this October issue of the MAGAZINE. Now the new magazine year has started.
I hope the fall and winter months will be kind to us all. Help all you can with your letters and news.
