Robert K. Hage '35, director of financial aid at Dartmouth, has been granted a year's leave of absence to work with the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation on a program designed to help a group of Negro colleges strengthen their admissions and financial aid programs. He will use Hanover as a base of operations while doing extensive traveling.
Several personnel changes in his office were announced by Mr. Hage. William C. Quimby '52, assistant director since 1962, will be acting director of the Office of Financial Aid for the 1968-69 academic year, and Jay C. Whitehair '55, formerly assistant dean of the College, has been named assistant director of financial aid. John H. Carpenter '64 has been appointed assistant to the director of financial aid. He succeeds Michael L. Slive '62, who recently became assistant director of athletics at Dartmouth. Recently discharged from the Army, Mr. Carpenter was coaching the freshman hockey team at West Point. He was an insurance underwriter in New York City before his military service.
