All at Tuck have been busy with conferences, seminars, research, writing, and the everyday duties that occur in an ongoing business. We will report on faculty activities next month, but first let us catch up on some of the news from our busy alumni.

Charles J. Urstadt T'51, deputy commissioner of Housing and Community Renewal of the State of New York, has been elected chairman and chief excutive officer of the newly created Battery Park City Corporation Authority. When completed, Battery Park City, which will be located adjacent to the financial district in New York, will be the largest and most complex single urban real estate development in the nation. Jay will continue to hold his New York state position but will, obviously, concentrate most of his efforts in this new billion-dollar enterprise.

Two new appointments at Pfizer involve Jim Myers T'51, who has joined the Pfizer Leeming/Pacquin Divisions as controller, and Edward Bessey T'61, a new group product manager for several of the Pfizer Laboratories products. Jim went to Pfizer from the Campbell Soup Company and Ed joined them in 1964 as a marketing assistant.

John Peterson T's4 has been appointed manager of development for the Grinding Wheel Division of the Norton Company. In his new post he will be responsible for determining new ways in which the Division can increase its growth in sales and profits. George Brophy T'56 has been appointed general manufacturing manager of Masonite Corporation's six fabricating plants. George joined Masonite in 1966 following a ten-year stint at Corning Glass. Jim Keane T'ss has been named vice president of the American Chicle Division of Warner-Lambert, responsible for advertising and product management. Having started his career in advertising, he went to Warner-Lambert from the marketing department at Bristol-Myers.

Sabin Danziger T'65 has been named product manager for records at the Singer Company. He will be responsible for all phases of the company's record program. John Mitchell T'54 has been promoted to vice president of Tufts University and will be responsible for business affairs and related operations for the school. Major responsibilities will involve his services as fulltime planning officer at the executive level. Jim Flynn T'57 has been named director of a new external development department within the corporate development division at Corning Glass Works. We are fortunate to see Jim up here occasionally in his company's recruiting operations.

Harold T. Marshall T'26 was elected chairman of the Kendall Company after serving as president since 1963. Mr. Marshall, who is involved in Tuck affairs as a member of the Tuck Associates Advisory Committee, will continue as the chief executive officer of Kendall. John L. McConchie, who succeeds Mr. Marshall as president, is father of Jim McConchie T'65.

Allen I. Bildner T'48, president of Kings Super Markets, has been elected a vice president of the Super Market Institute in Chicago. We hope these new responsibilities will not interfere with Al's and Joan's frequent trips to Hanover. Ralph B. Sperry T'40, vice president of the City Trust Company in Bridgeport, Conn., has become manager of its west side office. Ralph has been with City Trust since 1940 and is also involved in all phases of community activities. Richard B.Osgood T'59 has been appointed financial vice president for the Paine Furniture Company in Boston.

News from General Foods indicates that John Weslar T'67 has been appointed to assistant product manager for Instant Maxwell House and that Frank McCarthy T'66 has joined the Marketing Research Services Department following his discharge from the Army.

Russell Cook Jr. T'57 has been elected a vice president of Colonial Management Associates, Inc., investment advisers to the Colonial Group of Mutual Funds in Boston. Russ is a senior security analyst for Colonial and a vice president of three of its funds. Christopher B. Fuller T'53 has moved from General Foods to Acme Visible Records, Inc., where he was appointed financial vice president last May. We hope Chris will want to continue his recruiting activities from his new location. Charles H. MaddreyT'62 has joined the economic evaluation group of Dow Badische Company in Williamsburg. Va. He was previously a financial analyst with Dewey & Almy Division of W. R. Grace Co. Jay Trepp T'58 has been elected assistant comptroller by the First National Bank of Boston. William J. LynnT'50 has been elected treasurer of the Service Bureau Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of IBM. He was most recently associated with IBM's corporate headquarters in New York. Harris Richardson T'42, executive vice president of Eaton & Howard, Inc., was recently elected president of the two newest mutual funds managed and underwritten by his firm.

Unfortunately, this reporting, though brief, does not get us through the pile of news clips and we'll continue next month. Before closing, however, we want to report on KarlHill who recovered nicely from surgery in Boston before leaving for his new post as Dean of the School of Business and Public Administration at Washington University in St. Louis. Karl and Phyllis are settled in their new home at 529 Purdue Avenue, University City, St. Louis 63130, and Karl has begun his new duties. We will report on the Karl A. Hill Fellowship in the next issue but are delighted to report at this time that the campaign was a grand success.

Final order of business is a brief note from Professor Emeritus "Woody" Woodworth who asked me to include the following in the first issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE: "I wish to express my deep appreciation to the Tuck School Alumni Association for the beautiful pair of binoculars and the generous check which were presented on the occasion of my retirement this year. Mrs. Woodworth and I expect to reside in Norwich, Vermont, and shall hope that you will pay us a visit - at which time we can thank you personally."

Best regards from the hills.
