A seventh place finish, the best since 1959, marked the finale of the Dartmouth cross-country team in the Heptagonal Meet in New York City in early November. The performances of Mark Hamilton of Scarsdale, N. Y., who took 26th place to lead the, Indian runners, along with Dave Ullrich from Wausau, Wis., keyed the Dartmouth performance. Ullrich was 33rd.

The Big Green posted a 3-4 record in dual meet competition, defeating Columbia, Brown, and St. Anselm's.

Of note, too, is the performance of freshman cross-country captain Eric Potter of Clinton, N. Y., who was either first or second in all dual meet competition during the fall and then finished second in the Columbia Invitational Meet, run in conjunction with the Heptagonals. Potter followed that by finishing 19th in the IC4A championship meet a week later in New York City.
