General James M. Gavin came to Hanover late last month as a winter- term guest of the Senior Symposia. Some 700 students, faculty, and guests in Spaulding Auditorium heard the former Ambassador to France discuss "National Priorities and National Policies in an Age of Change."

The General's opposition, as military tactician and political observer, to the policies of the Johnson Administration has attracted national attention. As a top military figure in World War II and the present chairman of the board of Arthur D. Little, Inc., his views represent still another facet of political thought under the "Election '68" theme set for the Symposia, which during the fall term brought to campus another national figure, Governor George Romney of Michigan.

In addition to drawing one of the largest lecture audiences of the year, General Gavin was frequently interrupted by applause as he called for "a change of management in Washington." When asked if he would support Governor Nelson Rockefeller '30 for President, he responded, "Absolutely."
