The Club's youth movement sounded a new high in March with another Go-Go hoedown replete with portable dance floor and combo direct from its engagement at Harlow's silk stocking discotheque. The young greeners had a groovy time as did some of the creaking grey-beards, like those from classes pre-'60. More of the same is promised by impresario Sandy McGinnis '64, Activities Chairman, who reports a moderate profit thanks to laudable potable consumption by the energetic terpsichores.
The Lawyers Club has taken on a Hanover overtone of recent months, even as our Dartmouth Club has hosted more than its otherwise accustomed share of barristers. Reason: the interchange agreement wherein the parties of the first part can make use of the facilities of the parties of the second part. What it means is that to belong to one is to be able to use both, which gives Dartmouth members a private situs in the financial district and the lawyers an oasis midtown. Good for both and, one supposes, especially good practice for Dartmouth lawyers.
Early April featured the annual Alumni Fund New York dinner at the Commodore, following which many toilers in the green grape vineyard repaired to Club quarters upstairs to plan their campaigns and exchange plots for garnering the coveted derbies.
If you haven't lunched at the Club lately, be prepared for a pleasant surprise. Service is first-rate and the demand for tables never higher. A tip: try ordering lunch from the bar or lounges; it beats the crowd, is mighty relaxing, and insures your table ready when you are.
Come see us on the Hotel Commodore mezzanine any weekday mid-morning til after the last good commuter express has left from Grand Central just a few steps away. Chit-books for out-of-towners. All welcome.
