As I gathered all of the notes, clippings and gossip I acquired over the summer to prepare for this column, I began to feel more than a little nostalgia and pride over being a Dartmouth '60. The nostalgia I will get to in a minute, the pride stems from my personal feeling that Dartmouth stood tall in its performance during last spring's "uprisings," and our class pulled off one of the greatest Alumni Fund Green Derby victories of the 1969 Fund Drive. As you know, the Green Derby is a race between a group of seven classes with the score based on an intricate point system. Younger classes usually don't stand much of a chance. However, Seth Strickland and his group of agents won our group competition and we were the second youngest class in the group!

A further indication of the respect with which our class is viewed is the fact that Frank Yeager has been selected as a member of the executive committee of the General Association of the Alumni of the College. The General Association was founded in 1854 and is the constitutional parent of all other alumni activities. This is a great honor to Frank and to our Class.

In his second year with Pillsbury, TomMcBurney has been promoted to marketing manager for the refrigerated foods business. In his new assignment, he will be responsible for the refrigerated line of pastries, sweet rolls, cookies, and batters; sounds delicious! Previously he was marketing development manager for the new enterprises division. After our graduation he stuck around Hanover and earned his M.B.A. at the Tuck School. Then he taught in the Middle East for a short time before jumping into the advertising business.

As a kick-off to our reunion year, a Kentucky fried chicken buffet luncheon will be held on the lawn adjacent to the Columbia University boathouse at Baker Field prior to the Dartmouth-Columbia game on November 8. At a charge of $4 per couple, all the fried chicken you can eat and all the beer you can drink will be available. Festivities will begin at noon. Payments will be made at the luncheon table, but we would appreciate your sending indications of interest to Michael Heitner at 477 Madison Avenue, N. Y., N. Y. To catch up on some of the notes received over the last few months: Bob Colyer wrote that, after two years at Indiana Universtiy working on his doctorate as a graduate assistant to the top swimming and diving coaches in the country, he has accepted an appointment to be Head Swimming Coach and Assistant Professor of Physical Education at Valparaiso University in Indiana. We should be seeing some great swimmers out of Valparaiso since Indiana U. accounted for two N.C.A.A. Championships as well as a dozen Olympic medals during the two years Bob was there.

Also, in the field of education, the University of Vermont named Nick Muller parttime assistant to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. He will continue his teaching of history.

I wish I could print the wedding picture of Ann Jacobson, Eric Anderson's bride of last spring. A very cute girl. When the time comes, the Andersons should call SolRockenmacher, M.D., who has just established his practice of Pediatrics in Dover, N. H. Sol and Linda have moved daughters, Rachel, Karen, and Lisa into their new home in Durham.

Bob Dohrenwind was awarded the Roskin Memorial Graduate Fellowship by the N. Y. State College of Forestry. The fellowship is the top financial award made by the college in support of a graduate student. His research will take him to South America where he will study high altitude tropical forests. Princeton also has recognized a Dartmouth man, Jon Brown. Jon was given a special award called a Bicentennial Preceptorship. He joined the Princeton faculty in 1965. This award is comparable on the junior faculty level to endowed professorships for full professors.

Dr. and Mrs. Don Knapp announced the birth on May 8 of Deborah Leigh in Richmond, Va. Our Deborah Lee was born on May 27, 1961, a long time ago. Deborah is the Knapps' first. The Jack Pattersons also had a May baby. Leslie Breyer Patterson was born May 6 and is their first, too.

I mentioned some nostalgia a while ago. To do my bit to kindle some enthusiasm for our reunion June 19-21, I did some research last May in the old files of the "Daily D" for the period from September 1959 through June 1960. Each month from now 'til June 1970, I will give you a few reminders of what we were doing ten years ago. Right off the bat, DO YOU REMEMBER that in the fall of 1959 "The Daily Dartmouth" came out with a brand new format? Mort Kondrache and the late Dennis Cherlin were president and managing editor respectively. The Rugby Club had the largest turn out in history; Roli Kolman was captain. Dave Farfan, Art Coburn, Dennis Goodman, Jon Stockholm, and Dana Johnson were there. Extension of visiting hours from 12 to 1:00 A.M. on Saturday nights, got headlines. Mark Hinshaw, chairman of IDC-JC had the responsibility of enforcement. (They don't even knock on your door up there now if they hear giggling at 3:00 A.M.) Mark Abrahams starred in "The Alchemist." Tom Wahman, chairman of Palaeopitus spoke at Dartmouth Night. Enough nostalgia. If you can come up with some really unique "remember whens," send them along. I got a kick out of going over the old issues in Hanover.

Phil Savage was elected a director of the Fidelity National Bank and Trust Co. of Oklahoma City. Phil is a vice president and director of Standard Life and Accident Insurance Co. His list of other directorships in Oklahoma City would take up the whole page.

Greenfield, Mass. showed justifiable pride in Spike Hamilton through a long article about him in the local paper. He has become a prime mover behind a community college for Greenfield. They expect to enroll more than 1000 students over the next few years.

Word has it that Brooks Wrightnour was so stimulated by the Anderson wedding that he eloped. Finally, according to the College records, Waldo moved from 2202 Buchanan to 2107 Buchanan, Baytown, Texas. Why?
