OCTOBER 1969 BOB KIMBALL T'48

Another academic year is upon us, heralded by both the straggling return of students and hurricane warnings on the coast. The last of the summer business conferences is in progress as I write these notes, and we will have one week to ready the school physically and academically before the start of classes.

In next month's column we will attempt to bring you up-to-date on the summer activities of the administrative staff and faculty of the school, but first we will concentrate on the accumulation of news concerning our active and successful alumni. Rather than attempting a class sequence, we shall merely report as they come off the file.

Edward Bessey T'61 has been appointed Director of Product Management at Pfizer Laboratories. In the same company Peter Kalustian T'65 has been named Group Product Manager for Antibiotics. Pete has the distinction of being the youngest Group Manager in the Pfizer organization. Joseph Palermo T'66 has been appointed Product Manager for the Noroc Coated Products Division of the Norton Company. Having given his bosses fits as a sales engineer reporting from the field, Joe was brought back into home office management and has risen rapidly to this position. (That comment, given to me by the personnel director of the company, was made in a most complimentary fashion.)

Former New Hampshire Governor, LaneBwinell T'29, was nominated by President Nixon to serve as Assistant Administrator of the Agency for International Development. Based in Washington, he will visit many countries around the world in connection with his duties.
