We thought we had moved into spring but after several days of sunny, warm weather a March snowstorm upset the warming trend and the skiers remained happy.

J. Richard Leaman Jr. T'57 has been promoted to the newly created position of Director of Marketing Administration, Consumer Products, at Scott Paper. Dick began his career with Scott in industrial relations and moved to the corporate cashier's office prior to being elected assistant treasurer in 1967. He will now combine his expertise in the financial area with new responsibilities in marketing. We were delighted to receive a copy of an article authored by Joseph D.Mandel T'61 which appeared in the Los Angeles Bar Bulletin. Joe graduated from Yale Law School in 1964 and served for one year as a law clerk before joining the firm of Tuttle & Taylor in Los Angeles.
John N. Catlett T'66, who started his broadcasting career in Seattle and later moved back to Time-Life Broadcast Inc. in New York, has been appointed Station Manager of WBBM/FM, a CBS-owned station in Chicago. John has also been elected to the board of trustees of the Princeton Broadcasting Service Inc., continuing an association he started" as an undergraduate. Jon R. Page T'69 has been promoted to Assistant Secretary of the Irving Trust Company in New York in the company's investment division. Martin A.Lower T'61 is a relatively new vice president at Booz, Allen & Hamilton in Chicago. Marty started with Procter and Gamble after Tuck and then switched to the consulting field. James M. Dykes T'68 has joined Gladstone Associates in Washington, D. C., following discharge from the U. S. Army. Serving in Washington, Jim had an opportunity to work with Gladstone during his service career and is delighted to be with them on a permanent basis. Jim has joined James T. O'Reilly T'67 and Richard M. Hubbard T'69 in this firm.
Benjamin J. Bowden T'55 has been elected a Senior Vice President at First National Bank of Boston. Ben joined them in 1957, rose to loan officer in 1960, assistant vice president in 1962, and vice President in 1964. Robert W. Weinig T'55 has been elected Senior Vice President-Finance at Eastern Gas and Fuel Associates. Frederick Fedeli T'54 has been elected Vice President-Financial Opertions at State Mutual of America in Worcester, Mass.
Melvin C. Fallis Jr T'68 is a new product manager at Lever Bros., responsible for Lux toilet soap. Mel went to Lever after a stint with All-Pro Chicken. At Lever he joins Peter Stearns-Tesseyre T'62,Henry M Picken Jr. T'65, John B.Weslar T'67 and Richard E. Garabedian T'69, all in the marketing field. Stephen A Orndorf T'70, who journeyed to California following graduation from Tuck last , June, has joined Kaiser Steel and has embarked on a new manpower development program on the Coast. Paul F.Hardiman T'65 has been named Assistant Vice President at First National Bank of Boston. Having joined the bank in 1965, Paul was named a loan officer in 1969. Also in Boston banking, Howard H. Fair-weather T'62 has been promoted to Vice President in the credit and loan division of the State Street Bank and Trust Company. John F. Cunningham T'66 is now Manager of Marketing Services for Wang Laboratories Inc. John joined Wang in 1967 and was a product manager before attaining his new position.
Douglas Thomson T'50 has been appointed General Product Manager of the Consumer Product Company of Uniroyal. This is a newly created function and Doug has the responsibility for coordinating a group of product managers plus the style and design departments. Richard B.Dalbeck T'53 was appointed Vice President of Planning and Control at Unionmutual, Prior to joining Unionmutual in 1969 he had been a principal in the management consulting firm of A. T. Kearney Company in New York City. Unionmutual is an organization founded by Union Mutual Life Insurance Company of Portland, Maine, to develop and market a coordinated and related group of financial products and services to individuals. IverM. Olson T'41, chief economist and marketing director of the American Footwear Manufacturers Association, has been elected Senior Vice President.
That does it for news this month. Alumni activities continue to draw an increasing number of alumni into closer contact with the School. Dean Hennessey met with Chicago alumni in February at a meeting hosted by president Tom Donahoe T'58, and Deans Hennessey and Kimball traveled to Minneapolis to help the Twin Cities Tuck Alumni Association get under way. George Fulton T'70, Craig Tanner T'70,Ron Randall T'68 and an eager crew of organizers helped arrange a most enjoyable meeting and are considering plans for future activities in that area.
Tuck will welcome all suggestions and offers of assistance from alumni in the vitally important area of alumni relations.
