The 14th annual meeting of the Dartmouth Club Officers Association brought 92 officers and 76 wives to Hanover on October 3-4, a perfect fall weekend. The program began Friday afternoon in the Hopkins Center Theatre with reports from three College officers.J. Michael McGean '49, Secretary of the College, explained plans for "Charter Day - Saturday, December 13, 1969." Dean of the Faculty Leonard M. Rieser '44 discussed "Coeducation at Dartmouth?" and Director of Admissions Edward T. Chamberlain Jr. '36 reviewed "Admissions Programs - 1969 and the Class of 1973." The afternoon session concluded with a world premiere of the film, Focus onDartmouth.

Friday evening was the annual dinner with Edmund R. Senghas '47, president of the Association, in charge. The presentations of the second annual Dartmouth Clubs of the Year awards were made to Westchester County, N.Y., and Cincinnati, Ohio. In the large-club category, Westchester was cited for its year-round program of activities with the best attendance record at an annual meeting and dues payers reaching an all-time high of 180; attracting over 1,000 people to their Glee Club performance with a profit of over $l4OO for their scholarship fund, which now provides four separate scholarships; initiating an annual award to the outstanding area alumnus; and holding a symposium with members of the Presidential Analysis Committee. In the small-club category, Cincinnati was praised for its excellent communications, 40% dues participation from 200 potential members, a highly successful Glee Club concert that raised $1125 for the club loan fund, and well planned Alumni Seminars for the past two years.

The Club President of the Year award was presented to Benjamin S. Read Jr. '62 of the Georgia Club, and the Club Secretary of the Year award to Clark Weymouth Jr. '54 from the Detroit Club. (Their citations appear with their class columns in this issue.) After dinner the officers and their wives listened to a student panel moderated by Charles F. Dey '52, Dean of the Tucker Foundation.

Saturday morning the officers started off with a stag breakfast with speakers: Vice President George H. Colton '35, who discussed the "Third Century Fund," and Prof. John H. Copenhaver Jr. '46, who reported on the "Presidential Search Committee." The officers then split up into groups for workshop sessions on admissions and enrollment, club structure, Glee Club concerts, and Alumni Seminars.

After a coffee break, a joint meeting for the officers and their wives featured two panel discussions, "Club Programs that Demonstrate Community Consciousness" and "New Ideas for Club Programming." A talk by President Dickey closed the morning session.

Following a buffet luncheon, the officers and their wives enjoyed the Dartmouth-Holy Cross game. In the evening after cocktails and dinner at the DOC House, they were entertained by the Injunaires. Remarks by Carroll W. Brewster, Dean of the College, and a showing of the new film, Bicentennial, brought the weekend to a close.

New officers of the Association for 1969-70 are: David B. Metz '54, Westchester County, N. Y., president; Paul H. Mannes '55, Washington, D. C., vice president; and David E. Orr *57, Hanover, secretary. The newly elected executive committee includes Charles J. Schaefer III '48, New York, N. Y.; Edwin L. Lyon Ir. '52, North Shore, Mass.; Edward Oberndorf '52, Cleveland, Ohio; and Peter C. Schwartz '60, Hart- ford, Conn. Thomas B. Russell '6l, Seattle, Wash., was elected to serve on the Alumni Council for three years to 1971.
