The Board of Trustees has approved in principle a revision of its committee structure to include for the first time faculty, students, and members of the Alumni Council on several of its standing committees. In this action, voted at its October meeting, the Board accepted the recommendation of a study prepared by Trustee F. William Andres '29. Pending organization of the new committees, which is expected to be completed at the December meeting of the Board, Chairman Lloyd D. Brace '25 reappointed the present standing committees.
In a related move, the president of the Alumni Council, currently Judge William H. Timbers '37 of Darien, Conn., will be added to the Dartmouth Campus Conference, the forum established last year as a vehicle for periodic exchanges on critical campus issues among trustees, faculty, students, administrators, and now alumni.
The revision of the Trustees' organizational structure is part of a broader study of the governance of the College to continue throughout the year. At their June meeting the Trustees requested Deans Brewster and Smallwood to initiate a review with regard to student-faculty organization and Provost Rieser to initiate another with regard to the relationship among the four faculties. At the same time Mr. Andres was asked to head the study that has resulted in a restructuring of the Board's own committees.
