Those of you who have not already sent in their class dues please take note of the change in our illustrious treasurer's address above. The New Canaan post office would be much happier having class business sent directly to Champaign. Bill and Judi VanLaw write that they're "terribly excited about Bill's new ventureopening the first branch of Van Law Carol's women's specialty shop in Champaign in February.... Bill's been there since mid November. Bought a brand new house over Thanksgiving weekend."

A New York Times article announced Carl McCall's resignation from the Human Resources Agency where he was deputy chief of anti-poverty programs. The resignation was announced by Mayor John Lindsay. Carl left the agency Nov. 30 "first to take a three-month fellowship to study conflicts between Negroes and Jews in urban areas and to develop methods to achieve greater understanding and cooperation between the two groups. Before becoming deputy administrator he had been unpaid chairman of the city's policy-making Council Against Poverty where he was responsible for creating community corporations and planning committees in 25 poverty areas, while supervising council allocations of $33.5 million for more than 500 year-round community action programs. Mayor Lindsay hailed Mr. McCall for having brought imagination and vision to the creation of the city's first concerted, coordinated approach to the problems of the poor."

Steve Flanders has been promoted to the post of assistant vice president of The Bank of New York. Steve is in the bank's international department and he will be assigned to the London branch as deputy manager. He has been with the bank since 1961.

It's hard to believe but there is a Joe B. Blake Jr. in the world. I got a nice Christmas greeting from Elizabeth and Joe Blake announcing that the new arrival came on Hallowe'en. This is their second child; their first is a girl, Anne.

Congratulations to Frank Blatz. Frank has been elected mayor of Plainfield, N. J. He really has his work cut out for him as Plainfield is "a very racially torn city."

Myles Slosberg has been elected executive vice president of Green Shoe Manufacturing Company. Don't be surprised if you run into Myles in some strange places. He is now the holder of his pilot's license with instrument ratings on the way. While most of his travelling has been here in the northeast, he just made his first major trip down to Florida where he and his family vacationed.

In Boston John Parker has been named executive vice president of Putnam Advisory Company, Inc., the investment advisory arm of Putnam Management Company, Inc. He also has been elected a vice-president of the parent company. Before joining the Putnam organization, he was sales manager and assistant office manager for Smith, Barney & Company in Boston. He was also formerly associated with the Old Colony Trust Company of Boston as senior investment analyst.

Harold Knapp has been named vice-principal of the Glen Rock, N. J., High School. This is a new school which resulted in the merger of the junior high and high schools and is then a six year school.

Dr. John Whitely has joined the York, Pa., hospital where he has become a member of the Pathology Department medical staff....

The ranks of class bachelors is diminished by one as Carl Wentworth was married in San Francisco back in October. Carl married Carolyn Smith of Fayetteville, Ark. Carolyn is a graduate of the University of Arkansas; she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines and is an Employee Development Officer with the U.S. Geo- logical Survey in Menlo Park, Calif., where Carl is employed as a research geologist.

While visiting my in-laws down in Norfolk over the holidays, I had a chance to talk to John Ryan. John is practicing law in Norfolk. He was disappointed at not making it up to reunion but the birth of his third child, first son, in May took precedence. John told me that Doc Rice is head of the model cities program in Norfolk. This is the first funded program of its kind in the country. Doc was previously with the Norfolk City Planning board after having received his graduate degree at the Univer- sity of North Carolina School of City Plan- ning. Doc is married and has two children.

John also reports that Hal Bernsen is back from his stint with the air force in Viet Nam and is living in Virginia Beach.

That's all the news I have for this month. I sure would like to hear from some of you who have kept your doings a secret. How about some of you wives writing in? Don't forget to pay those class dues.
