With the weather here in the East changing from mid-winter freeze to spring balminess in the space of 24 hours, those of us who are skiers envy those snow reports we hear those of you in the West are enjoying. It has been one crazy winter here.

I received the Ed Caress' Christmas poem last week and while I would like to print it in its entirety, let me just congratulate Ginger on some fine iambic pentameter and quote a few salient paragraphs:

Ed has been made an Assistant Dean of the George Washington Graduate School (Washington, D. C.) He still teaches several chemistry courses And enjoys it all, as a rule.

I now have a part time job Teaching a chemistry lab.

I'm at G. W. one afternoon a week And like it; it's certainly not drab.

Ed and I are busy at church And continue to sing in the choir.

We're giving the opera Amahl this year—(Believe me, I'm really no liar.)

Ginger also reports that they have three children, Jim, 7; Becky, 5½; and Peter 2.

Timothy Thalheimer has joined the Grocery Products Division of the Howard Johnson Company as regional sales manager, Mid-Atlantic region. Tim was previously with the Fox Grocery Company.

Capt. Mal Snow has been promoted to the rank of major with the 104th Fighter Group at Barnes Airport in Westfield, Mass. Mai has had 13 years of service. He flew B-47s while on active duty. He has been a member of the Air National Guard group since 1965. He lives in Holyoke, Mass.

Stu Gord writes that, "We've moved to the Chicago area to take a job as treasurer of Baxter Laboratories. While we'll all miss Minneapolis, this should be good fun. I'll look forward to renewing old friendships here once the hustle and bustle of a new job calms down a bit."

I was sorry to hear that Bruce Snyder had been ill, but am glad to hear from Brace's father that he has recovered and is now in Graduate School at Tulane U. working toward his Ph.D.

Dave Sharrock sends news that he is still working for Wm. S. Merrell Co. which is involved in pharmaceutical drugs. He was recently promoted to vice president, products development and acquisitions. Dave and Barbara have two daughters, Mary 11 and Jeanne 9. They are living in Cincinnati.

It might be a wise move if we all made up to Jaff Jaffe, which is a corny way of announcing that he has been appointed publisher of Cosmetics Fair, the leading cosmetics retailing trade magazine. He will take over all administrative and merchandising duties for the publication. Jaff has long been associated with the cosmetics industry in both marketing and advertising. having joined Cosmetics Fair last year from Faberge. Inc. He and wife Maxine live at 201 E. 77th St., NYC 10021.

Dr. Dan Palant writes from Belmont, Mass., that he has a new daughter, Stephanie Beth, born on July 17. "I have entered pediatric practice with the Lexington (Mass.) Pediatric Associates and continue my association with the Center for Birth Defect Evaluation and Center for Genetic Counseling at the New England Medical Center."

Another '58 in the Boston area is BillPrescott who lives here in Wellesley, with his wife and three children, Gordon, 10; Fred, 8; and Sara Kay, 4. Bill is the head of his own Investment Brokerage and Securities firm, William S. Prescott, & Co. Inc., members of the Boston Stock Exchange. He was recently elected a member of the board of governors of the Exchange.

I was happy to hear from old Smith Hall friend Cal Dyer who has been appointed Chairman of Humanities and Social Sciences at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind.

Pete Kenny writes from Newport Beach, Calif., "In January 1971 left Bio-Dynamics after some 5 years. Started new Co. manufacturing artificial legs, but closed up after 3, months. Reason—poor market research on my part. Start 2 new careers next month—that of restaurant owner and Industrial Real Estate salesman for Cold-well Banker & Co." Best of luck, Pete, and let us know the name and locale of that eating establishment.

Pete Upton writes that neurosurgery and Rutland, Vt., agree with him. I haven't seen you on the slopes at Stowe at all, Pete.

This is one of the shortest columns I have written to date, but with good reason—the lack of communications from you. I hope to hear from many of you soon, especially those of you who haven't been heard from in some time. Next issue I will report on the ski weekend which has hopefully been blessed with snow.
