MARCH 1969 EDWARD W. DAUMIT '60

To begin the new year on strong footing, I should like to elaborate on the many activities of the St. Louis Dartmouth Alumni Association. Tom and Sue Curtis'32 once again hosted our annual picnic which was most successfully attended. Rain storms threatened but good cheer prevailed.

We have organized a system of irregular smokers which prove very popular. Frequently a guest speaker from the College comes forth to provide a spirited discussion. Recent smokers were held at the home of Ed Grace '38, at which Ken Rogers, Assistant Dean of Admissions, spoke and at Ed Daumit's ('60) home at which George Darlington, freshman line coach, spoke. While in town Mr. Rogers and Mr. Darlington visited several schools and spoke to interested seniors. Roger Penland, assistant basketball coach, was here and visited various schools.

The annual holiday luncheon was held on December 30 at the Bel Air East Motel. Tom Curtis gave a brief report on the College. A fine panel partially consisting of John Byron '72, Bob Scheff '70, John Paisley '69, and Hugh Hill '69, proved to be most interesting to the alumni group and our guests, the high school seniors. Roland Kolman '60 is in charge of admissions work in the St. Louis area. This year we have had a big increase in applications and Roland now has over 52 completed applications.

Once again the Glee Club is coming and Jonathan Gershovitz '62 is in charge of this program. Coming in May is perhaps our most ambitious program. We are coordinating with the Kansas City Dartmouth Club in a Dartmouth Alumni College seminar. Gene Gerard '55 is in charge of the St. Louis group and Hugh Uhlman '37 is handling things in Kansas City. We hope to have about 40 or 50 couples rendezvous at Lake of the Ozarks, Tan-Tar-A Resort for this adult education program.
