James Henry McGowan was hospitalized for several weeks, around the turn of the year but is now reported at home again. Also to be noted is the fact that a privately published volume of his poems has been added to Baker Library.
Philip G. Evans, admitting some hearing difficulty, has resigned as chairman of the prospective students interviewing committee in his vicinity. He observes that "good old Cliff Bean" appointed him thirty years ago.
In the days of the Military Stores School, in Tuck, Isaac Sprague occupied the seat next to Sherman L. Smith in the "S's" and during the more tedious moments used to draw amusing little "gloom chasers" in the margins of his notebook. Sherm hit on the idea of having Ike draw a whole page of them to insert in the book of notes he was preparing for use in the Ordnance Corps. This went with him through his Ordnance career and his subsequent service in the Coast Artillery and came to light recently in his Cape Cod home. Reminded of this the other day, Ike wrote, "I certainly do remember them but thought you had forgotten."
Ralph Lynch weathered his January birthday successfully and admits that "the old warm carcass is in fair shape - not, of course, because of caution, temperance, good works, etc. It just is!"
A beautiful set of pulpit scarves Bible markers, and altar cloth was dedicated February 16, in the United Methodist Church in Pine Plains, N. Y., in memory of the late Harlan N. Scott, who was minister of that church from 1955 to 1962.
