The Dartmouth College Glee Club, haying missed visiting us last year, once again made a most successful appearance in Westchester. The concert, held for the benefit of the Club's Scholarship Fund, attracted about 1,000 alumni, friends, and families, who flocked to Scarsdale High School despite reports of an imminent snow storm (which never materialized!).
Dick Prior '60, concert chairman, reports that net proceeds of $1,500.00 will swell the scholarship fund, making this one of the Club's most successful efforts ever. In appreciation for Dick's hard work and success, the Club presented him a gift at the concert, which later revealed a beautiful set of bartender tools. Thanks also go to the committee which did an outstanding job — Jack Upham '58, Dick Ellington '62, Walt Vail '58, Jack Morris '53, and Al Glick '60. The Club is also indebted to the many area alumni who housed and fed the Glee Club members.
One important aspect of the concert's success was the test of Club President DaveMetz's '54 new area chairmen system. Under the direction of Ed Boyer '53 and George Carlson '59, the area chairmen, who are located throughout the county and are responsible for contacting the alumni in their locale, performed their tasks extremely well as was evidenced by the turnout at the concert.
