As alumni we can be proud of these able and hard-working legislators who serve their constituencies with distinction and who proudly support Dartmouth's interest in our nation's capital. Congressman Monagan's remarks in connection with the Dartmouth College Bicentennial Medals bill exemplifies this spirit, when he stated on the House floor: "I am happy to join my support to that of my fellows in bringing about the passage of this bill to mark the 200 th birthday of my alma mater with the wish that her influence will long remain strong and her prestige high among the great colleges of the world."
