1930 Class of Year
JUNE 1969

At the annual class officers' meetings in Hanover, May 2-3, the Class of 1930 was named Dartmouth Class of the Year. This is the second year of the award, made "in recognition of an outstanding all-around program through superior organization of class interest and participation to the benefit of the College and the cause of higher education." A gavel, symbolic of the award, was presented to class president Fred C. Scribner '30.

Honorable mention went to the Classes of 1909, 1926, 1934, 1939, 1954, and 1957. Among the highlights of the 1930 program were an improved system for messages, telephone calls, and personal calls on members of the class who are ill; a program of correspondence among class members, highlighted by 150 cards sent during a class trip outside the country; creation with the College of the Class of the Year Award; the highest dollar contribution to the 1968 Alumni Fund; an informal class reunion in Venezuela, attended by 66 classmates and wives - the largest class activity ever held outside the United States; a new 70-page class directory; a special New York dinner meeting to honor its Class Agent; an improved regional set-up and six regional meetings of the class.
