Bert MacMannis '39 Named Class President of the Year
JUNE 1969

Bertram R. MacMannis '39 was honored as Class President of the Year at the annual meeting of Dartmouth class officers in Hanover, May 3. The following citation accompanied the award: As a shoreline sleuth you find shell treasures in the sands. In 1964 the Class of '39 recognized you, their Twenty- fifth Reunion Chairman, as a sand treasure and awarded you the king's , , , crown shell, emblematic of the class leadership. You have played no shell games in that job but have led them in an outstanding manner during the last five years.

You have kept classmates informed about all activities and projects undertaken through a well-prepared and comprehensive annual report. Executive Committee meetings are scheduled regularly, a very successful one in the mid-west. Annual fall reunions are held in Hanover. Through these meetings a feeling of class unity and purpose has been developed and the needs of the class and the College are common knowledge.

Perhaps the most widely known and appreciated project was the desperately needed football scoreboard your class installed at Memorial Field. Your Class Memorial Book Plan and Scholarship Fund are projects on which you have given real direction and skillful leadership.

For these accomplishments and in recognition of your aggressive stewardship we designate you Class President of the Year.
