JONATHAN MIRSKY (1) is a teacher. He moves with an independent conviction that transcends the discontinuity of the institution from the world. His energies are directed to an awakening of the moral responsibilities of the individual in society. This responsibility is reflected in action.

Throughout the strike his instruction has gone far beyond the political nature of the moment. By his energy, patience, and endurance he has been an example of the embodiment of moral conviction. His ability to embrace the spectrum of social consciousness and commitments allowed a turning of these varied interests to a focused, functional, and unified effort. His success lies not only in the talent of awakening the College to the urgencies of the world beyond, but in confronting the prejudices and barriers that exist within each of us as independent institutions in a socially defined world.

As Dartmouth turns to incorporate the free response and energies that are the direct products of the Strike, the institution only reflects the activity and interest that Jonathan makes a way of life.
