OCTOBER 1971

Dartmouth and four other New England educational institutions this summer joined seven Massachusetts universities in the New England Consortium on Air Pollution.

The Consortium was formed in 1970 to "facilitate and coordinate joint and cooperative action by and among, these New England universities in educational, research, and public service endeavors related to air pollution and thereby to promote the respective educational, research, and other purposes of such universities."

The new members, along with Dartmouth, are Boston College, Brown University, and the Universities of Maine and New Hampshire. They join in their common effort with Boston University, Harvard, Lowell Technical Institute, M.I.T., Northeastern, Tufts, and the University of Massachusetts.

Edward S. Brown '34, Professor of Civil Engineering at Thayer, will represent Dartmouth on the Consortium's Board of Directors, which is made up of one member from each institution.
