Construction has begun on a new sixstory parking garage northwest of the Medical School. The garage itself will provide space for 492 cars. Another 358 will be accommodated in the immediate vicinity.

The $1-million project is a joint undertaking of the College and the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital. Included in the cost is the relocation of the Lyme Road entrance to the existing parking lot to a point directly opposite North Park Street.

Meanwhile, to ease the scarcity of parking spaces caused by the simultaneous construction of the Regional Cancer Research and Treatment Center, the Vail Building of the Medical School, and the parking garage, a temporary lot for the use of hospital personnel has been constructed on Dewey Field, north of Strasenburgh Hall. The area will be restored when the construction projects are finished.
