The club meeting on December 11 was a howling success. Almost fifty alumni and wives braved a snowstorm to hear Professor John Rassias and Peter Maeck '71, expound on the dynamic and interactive education experienced by the foreign language students at Dartmouth today. It is new and vital procedure which has had outstanding success in bringing the language and the country to the student (and vice versa).
As we entered the Beekman Arms in Rhinebeck, N.Y., the strains of the Dartmouth Glee Club (circa 1955) wove their way through the smoke, laughter, talk etc., of the cocktail hour. Just as we sat down to a delicious dinner, we were joined by three couples from our brother club in Albany.
Prior to Professor Rassias' talk, President Mike Fletcher '55, and Secretary- Treasurer John M. Coulter Jr., '58, reviewed our activities in 1970 and presented plans for 1971. Recognized from the podium was long-time club supporter, Henry Seaver '11.
A great, party, delicious dinner, dynamic and interesting speaker and exciting plans for 1971 made the Dartmouth evening one to remember. A big thanks to ShepJackson '55, chairman of the event.
The Club met again at West Point Officer's Club on January 16, 1971 after the Army basketball game. About twenty attended including former Club President Jim Ventura '57.
Plans for the spring include a trip to Albany on April 8, to hear President Kemeny speak and a picnic on May 22, at the home of Bob Kendall '49, with co- chairman Bob Ramadge '29.
