This will reach you quite late for making plans, but we want to remind all of you who attend the Princeton game that you are urged to come to the Norwich Inn immediately after the game to see your classmates — your guests are welcome too — drinks will be at bargain prices, with expert '28 bartenders. Those who have been dashing back to Boston, Rutland, Vergennes etc. after the game should take a few minutes to drop in and say hello. We'll be looking for you! Another suggestion, why not park in Norwich and ride '28s private bus to and from the game?
So many of you are retiring that we don't have enough space properly to record this important event. In fact, we've said so much about retirement that Hordy Gifford wrote "I think you and Sam are the only '28ers who are still working." That ought to being in some additional mail, Hordy! Sam is president of the Milton Paper Co. in New York, but has a good staff because he and Hordy were able to take a month off to visit Bangkok, Bali, Java, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan.
Those of you who have the time to travel make us green with envy. Wat and Eleanor Dickerman had a fine trip to Turkey and Norway. Wat says "That boat ride around the western and southern coasts of Turkey must be one of the world's great remaining travel bargains. Imagine $110 each for a suite and first class food for two weeks from Istanbul to Iskenderun and back! And each day in a new port with half a dozen ancient cities within easy reach. Eleanor had her second cataract operation when we returned and is getting along fine — already talking travel again. Not me. Not air travel, at least. We had a bomb threat and near misses with a couple of sky-jacks and I want no more of same. The airlines have got to develop tighter security before this old boy rides with them again."
Jack McGuire of Wallingford, Conn., is still very active managing his insurance, real estate and travel agency.
AS Bishop has given up building houses in the Buffalo area and retired to 522 Ulumu St., Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii. That brings the '28 population of Hawaii to two — Honie Westhaver lives in Kailua Kona.
Jerry and Bella Warner are driving to the Princeton game reunion the long way, leaving Washington, D. C., Sept. 7 by car for the West Coast via the Canadian Rockies, then a big "8" to return via the Great Lakes and Montreal.
Hod and Biv Carver who retired to Green Valley, Ariz., three years ago have moved to Tucson, where they bought a house.
Dick Frame says he has no plans to retire but says some of his neighbors in Philadelphia think he is retired because they see him around the house all the time — his photographic studio is in a building behind his home.
It looks like Carter Woods has retired as a professor at Wells College — his new address is Brandon, Vt.
Chuck Eastman retired from Wall Street three years ago after 40 years, due to failing eyesight. He says he can't read any more, but manages to get around fairly well, as long as he stays in familiar surroundings. He lives at 8 Peter Cooper Road, New York City.
Myles and Maggie Lane spent the month of July on Nantucket — Maggie's book on needlepoint has sold 30,000 copies and she has a new one coming out soon. Did you know that George Emery is expert at needlepoint?
The co-chairmen for our 45th reunion Cal Billings and George Emery, have asked me to remind you that the dates are Monday, June 11 to Wednesday, June 13.
Since the last class notes, news has come of the death of Phil Sherman and SidBogar.
Some of us won't forget Hurricane Agnes for a long time. Bed Myers, Amoco distributor in Elmira, N. Y., had one station clobbered. We had five of our own stations in Corning and Elmira under 8 to 12 feet of water. We were a long time digging out the mud and getting back into operation.
