Your scribe received over 50 Christmas and birthday cards during the holiday season. Jane joins me most sincerely with thanks to all.

We expect to have our dinner at the Clearwater Beach Hotel in February with hopefully 16 Dartmouth folks: two Blatners, two Falconers, two Chases, two Browns, one Bell, one C. C. Hills,Mildred Putnam and Edith Sanborn '07!

Also a few local Dartmouth men nearby as Andy Scarlett '10. Hinman '08, Arthur Lord '10, and Mrs. Scales.

The Herford Elliots will be spending some time at Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas Island. There is a very friendly group there, including Sig Larmon '14, L. R. Little '14, and son John '40. Herford is very fortunate at our age to be able to travel so far. I wonder if the answer is his young and very vivacious wife. Anyway, good luck to them.

Jane and I had a very happy evening at the University of Illinois Sarasota Alumni meeting January 8. The Dartmouth Club was asked, as Bob Blackman was the speaker. Six of our local boys sat together. Bob was his usual smiling self; had put on a little weight due to eating so well on banquet tour. He spoke of the problems of building up a winning team in the big 10 competition. It is a challenge, but I am sure that in two or three years Bob will be in the top three. His wife Kathy was looking as young and charming as when she was in Hanover.

On my 89th birthday, January 10, C. C. Hills and three other Sarasota Sigma Chis attended the monthly Sig Alumni meeting. It was the birthday of one other member. Everyone sang Happy Birthday and we two had birthday cakes with one candle. I told them C.C had his 90th birthday in November. C. C. and I attended the St. Petersburg Dartmouth Alumni dinner on Sunday, the 16th. Coach Jake Crouthamel gave the talk and showed slides of our very Successful football season

After trying unsuccessfully to reach Alva Hatch at her Rhode Island address, I caught up with her at her daughter's, Mrs. Frank Little, Foley, Ala. Box 202, 36535. She was happy and cheerful and said she had not written any letters as she will be having a new address when she comes back North.

We boys and girls of '05 miss her usual interesting letters and will be glad to hear from her again

Maude Harding sent a very touching Christmas card with a short poem she had written herself:

"We hold, close to our heart, The dear traditions Of a Baby's birth The Star that lighted Bethlehem Still shines upon the earth.

Ida Parkinson sent a very special holiday letter. She is one of our best friends and even though she is far away in the State of Washington, her letters are full of interesting anecdotes.

Ernest's grandson Ben, son of John '45 is at Holderness School in Plymouth, N. H., and is a sophomore. Early in December I talked to Ed Tuck '50, son of our John. He says his son Brian is at Holderness in the same dorm and last fall played on the same soccer team. Ed said this: "and it's a small world."

Roger Brown (right) and C.C. Hills, both '05, were on hand to hear CoachJake Crouthamel speak at a DartmouthClub dinner in St. Petersburg, Fla.
