As intimated in our June Column, this issue represents the windup of the intermission between June and October. I think we'll all agree that resuming these columns, after a summer's intermission, calls for quite a study of picking up where we left off. In any event, here we go!
We'll start with congratulations to DuzeLounsberry and his agents, including the Women's Team, and their many letters to the widows who gave so generously in memory of their husbands. Dale Barker's issue of the 75 Frontiersman, dated July 30, gives a very complete summary of their situation, including the winning of another 1915 Green Derby - third in a row!
George Martin from Boston comes up with some interesting reports. Dale Barker has sold his house and leased an apartment a mile or so from his son Dick and family. Once the moving is over, he should be greatly relieved of pressure. EbenClough is doing very well and taking a lot of joshing over a new girl friend, secretary to Dean of Thayer School, who was his guest at Reunion.
Kike Richardson had some nice fishing for ten days and Pearl's sister, who was with them for Christmas, left for home last week, after being quite helpful to Kike during that period, helping him take care of his acre of vegetables in Littleton.
A notice from Hanover reports that the Alumni Fund had gone over the top. Recent large donations, withheld until the final week, accounted for the overage.
A card from Jack Bowler reports he's feeling pretty good now, after a long tough road. We are rooting, Jack!
George Martin reports that George III is doing fairly well after an auto accident and the hospital expects to release him in a week or so. George further reports that Kike Richardson picked up three lobsters at his house recently - which should compensate for the hot weather they've been having. George says Kike prefers 10-20 degrees below zero. George also states that StringDowning, after several visits to hospital, has overcome his ailment and is gaining weight. They go to the same church that Norvie Milmore helped start many years ago.
Art Sterling reports they have just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary and are in good health. They like to take in some of the exhibition ball games in Clearwater and St. Petersburg and get into Chicago whenever possible to see the Cubs and White Sox. Looking ahead, they are planning a two-week plane jaunt to Mexico and are looking forward to it. Here's good luck to their plans!
An interesting note from my "peripatetic twin," George Ingalls, reports a pleasant bonus, during one of his trips, in getting a good view of a herd of 74 elks. George sure gets around!
With which - hope you all had a pleasant summer and are now girded up for fall and winter. Best of luck!
